One of the most well known Trappist belgium beers, it is made by cystercians monks in Chimay since 1862. It has the logo “Authentic trappist product”. The strength of its taste is enough to balance the maroille’s taste. Take care the alcohol is high, and they all taste differents.

 

 

 

 

 

There are 4 differents chimay:

all are unfiltered and unpasteurized.

-Chimay bleue:
Colour: brown
Alcohol: 9%
Size: 33cl (named grande reserve in 75cl)
Taste: Rose flower, caramel
-Chimay triple:
Colour: blond
Alcohol: 8%
Size: 33cl (named Cinq Cents in 75cl)
Taste: Bitterness and softness, houblon flavours, muscat, dry grapes, apple.
-Chimay rouge:
Colour: brown
Alcohol: 7%
Size: 33cl (named Premiere in size 75cl)
Taste:  fruits as Apricot
-Dore which you just can have directly to the abbay.
