Friday, after a quite hard week, I had decided to treat myself with one of my favourite appelations. Of course there is a lot of wine I like, depending my mood and this yesterday a glass of Cornas just put a spell on my soul. I was done and the enchanter was…

…Cornas, les terres brulées 2006 from Jean Luc Colombo.

Smell: intense, red fruit and prun
Color: Deep ruby, intense
Taste: Black currant and cherry flavors, Iris flower.
Pairing: beef, agneau de 7 heures, mushrooms
Where to buy it: Nicolas Wines
Merchants, £39

With a very long finish this Cornas is very well balanced, and has a silky elegance. You can feel the passion and the “made with love” inside your glass, plus there is in the taste “ce petit je ne sais quoi” which gives you the satisfaction you are drinking a  very well done wine.
